About

"They have an element of pop music to them, I also hear rock and a tinge of metal. That’s what I hear."

- Gunner Smith, Steel City Music, 101.5FM.

Northcode was formed by high-school friends in the spring of 2019. Based in Burlington, Ontario, the band took elements from different genres to create a unique sound.

After only a few months of playing shows in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Northcode was selected as one of Burlington's most up-and-coming artists by the 2019 Emerging Artists Showcase (held by Canada's Largest Ribfest).

In 2020, they worked remotely through the closures brought by the pandemic to self-release four singles: Unstoppable, Silently, Something in the Dark and No Permission. The project was then put on hold after a final show at Canada's Largest Ribfest 2021.

Now, Northcode is back. Jerry Zhang (guitar), Marie-Carmen Loyo (vocals), and Miguel Angel Loyo (bass) have dusted off their instruments to welcome Alex Ball (keys) and Yuri Chaban (drums) to the group. Together, they have been writing new material and expect to release new music soon. "The new songs take elements from our past sound but give them a more modern, more mature twist. We've grown as people and as musicians during the time we were apart, and our new music reflects that. I can't wait to show you!" says Marie-Carmen.
